The Date custom field allows you to add a specific calendar date to your items or collections. This is an essential tool for tracking any time-sensitive information, helping you manage deadlines, expirations, and important milestones directly within Maxilist.
When you tap a Date field, a user-friendly calendar picker appears, making date selection quick, easy, and accurate. The format of the date will automatically match your device's regional settings (e.g., MM/DD/YYYY or DD/MM/YYYY).
When to Use the Date Field
The Date field is incredibly versatile. It helps you organize and track items based on when something happened or is scheduled to happen.

How to Use the Date Field
Once created, the Date field will appear on the details screen for your items.
- Open any item within the collection where you added the field.
- Find the new Date field you created (e.g., "Warranty Expires"). It will likely show "Not Set" or be blank.
- Tap on the field.
- A calendar interface will pop up.
- Select the desired year, month, and day.
- Tap OK. The selected date will now be displayed in the field.
Tips and Best Practices
- Use for Sorting: The Date field is extremely powerful when used with sorting. You can instantly sort your items to see which ones are expiring soonest or which equipment is due for maintenance.
- Filter Your Data: Combine the Date field with Maxilist's powerful search and filter engine. For example, create a filter to show only "items received in the last 7 days" or "assets with warranties expiring this month."
- Be Consistent: Use clear and consistent naming for your date fields across different collections to avoid confusion.
