Saving Time with Bulk Edit

Imagine you need to update the supplier for 50 different items, or move an entire shipment from your "Receiving" collection to your "Sales Floor." Doing this one by one would be incredibly tedious and time-consuming.

This is where Bulk Operations come in. It's a powerful feature that allows you to select multiple items at once and then perform a single action—like editing, moving, or deleting—on all of them simultaneously.

When to Use Bulk Operations​

Bulk actions are your best friend for any repetitive task. Here are a few scenarios where this feature is a lifesaver:

  • Changing a Common Field: You need to update the Status of an entire product line to "On Sale."
  • Moving a Group of Items: A new shipment has arrived, and you need to move all 20 items from your "Receiving Dock" collection to their permanent "Aisle 5" collection.
  • Cleaning Up Your Inventory: You're discontinuing a category of products and need to delete all of them from your active inventory.
  • Quickly Adding to the Cart: A customer is buying 15 different small items, and you want to add them all to the cart quickly to process the sale.

How to Use Bulk Operations​

The process is designed to be fast and intuitive.

  1. Enter Selection Mode: Use either methods to enter selection mode (unselected checkmark will appear on all items):

    • Navigate to any item list. Press Bulk Edit button.
    • Navigate to any item list. Long-press on any single item for a moment.

  2. Select Your Items: Once in selection mode, you can simply tap on any other items in the list to add them to your selection. A checkmark will appear on each item you select. You can also tap a selected item again to deselect it. A "Select All" option will also appear at the top of the screen.

  3. Choose Your Action: As soon as you enter selection mode, a new action bar will appear at the bottom of the screen header. This bar contains all the possible bulk actions you can perform:

    • Operation: Change a field's value for all selected items. a) Choose the field you want to change (e.g., Supplier). b) Enter the new value for that field (e.g., "NewCo Supplies"). c) Confirm the change. The new value will then be applied to every item you selected.

    • Export: Export all selected items. See our guide: Exporting Data.

    • Delete: Permanently delete all selected items.

  4. Review changes: A tag will appear on top of all items that have been modified (even deleted ones). You can inspect the changes by taping each item individually. You can see the list of modified items by tapping the Cart icon on the screen header.

  5. Confirm and Execute: Once you have finished all changes, you need to confirm and commit the changes to your data by pressing the Done button.
